Brazilian Federal Highway Police seize precious stones in Jequié.
Last Saturday (02), the Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized 15 packets containing a variety of precious stones, including emeralds, topaz, citrine, quartz, among others. The seizure occurred during a routine inspection at Km 677 of BR 116, in Jequié.
During a stop of a black VW/SAVEIRO pickup truck, federal agents found the precious stones properly packaged in small paper packets inside a bag. In addition, a small amount of marijuana, totaling 5 grams, was also discovered in the vehicle.
The driver of the pickup truck claimed to be involved in the mining business and stated that he was on his way to Campo Formoso to sell the stones. However, he did not possess the necessary documents for the transport and sale of these minerals.
The incident was immediately referred to the appropriate authorities for the implementation of the legal procedures required in such cases.
Federal police are taking the opportunity to issue a warning to mineral explorers, urging them to pay attention to current regulations regarding mineral exploration and marketing in Brazil. They emphasize the importance of following regulations and legislation to ensure the sustainability of this activity, contributing to the responsible generation of jobs and income.
