Strengthening cultural roots: 2nd Quadrilha Junina competition in Senhor do Bonfim
The Municipality of Senhor do Bonfim, through the Department of Culture and the Municipal Council of Culture, held the 2nd Quadrilha Junina competition on the 16th. The objective of the event was to strengthen cultural roots and traditions, as well as promote the diversity of popular expressions during the São João festivities.
The competition took place at the João Correia Sports Center and attracted a large audience. The gymnasium was packed with people eager to witness the fierce competition for the title of best quadrilha junina (traditional square dance group) of São João 2023, which had the theme "All the Poetry and Tradition in the Biggest and Best São João".
Dawn had already arrived when the last group took to the stage and enchanted everyone with their performance. The participating groups displayed great enthusiasm, beautifully decorated costumes, and an explosion of colors, marking the competition.
In the Traditional Quadrille category, the 1st place winner received R$2,000.00 + trophy, the 2nd place winner received R$1,500.00 + trophy, and the 3rd place winner received R$100.00 + trophy. In the Stylized Quadrille category, the top three winners received trophies. The competition was fierce, and all participants showed great talent and dedication.
Mayor Laércio Junior congratulated each of the participants and highlighted the success of the contest. He emphasized the importance of the event for the history of Senhor do Bonfim and congratulated the Department of Culture and the Council of Culture for the organization.
The event was also attended by government secretaries Weslen Aquino (Culture), Lourinalva Correia (Education), Ana Cláudia Matos (Economic Development), and Taciane Granja (Social Assistance), as well as councilors Babão and Netinho do Táxi.
The 2nd Quadrilhas Juninas competition in Senhor do Bonfim was a success and reaffirmed the importance of preserving cultural traditions and promoting the diversity of popular expressions during the June festivities.
