The importance of the 24-hour UPA (Emergency Care Unit) in Senhor do Bonfim for public health.
Since the "Caring Well, Feels Good" government took over managing the municipality in 2021, the health department's technical team has been working tirelessly, producing reports, updating the federal system, and maintaining frequent contact with the Ministry of Health to further improve the 24-hour Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in Senhor do Bonfim. This unit receives federal funding to maintain "only" one doctor, but the municipal administration maintains at least two doctors, and a third is called in when necessary. The unit also has a multidisciplinary team and diagnostic support services. It is worth highlighting that we have invested in infrastructure and equipment. All this with a transfer from the Federal Government of only R$1,450,000 per month.
Technical visit from the Ministry of Health
On the afternoon of last Thursday (24), we received a technical visit from the Ministry of Health's reference regarding UPAs. This visit aimed to consolidate more than two years of work. The project, which was analyzed in person, resulted in the inspector's delight, who considered the organization of the unit, congratulating the work process carried out at the UPA, the maintenance of the structure and services implemented by the management, even with such scarce resources. In addition to enhancing the Health Care Network of Senhor do Bonfim, with the link between the UPA and Primary Health Care, as well as through the relationship with the Municipal Hospital Reference, HDAM, and the entire Reference Grid Network, highlighting the relationship of the municipality of Senhor do Bonfim with the PEBA Network.
Expectations for the final report
The Health Department is awaiting the final report from the Ministry of Health technician, even though during the visit she gave positive feedback on everything observed. The report will analyze not only the UPA's qualification but also the change in the Unit's size classification, which will allow for increased resources and improved assistance offered to the residents of Bonfim.
