The meeting also marked the conclusion of the Specialization Course “Improving care for people with chronic conditions in Primary Health Care,” which lasted 18 months. This project is part of the Project to Support the Institutional Development of the SUS (PROADI-SUS) and had the support of the Ministry of Health.

The objective of this course was to improve the care of people with Non-Communicable Chronic Diseases, with the aim of promoting continuity and comprehensiveness of care, as established by the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS).

Partnerships and municipalities benefited

The Cuida APS Project was developed by the Oswaldo Cruz German Hospital (HAOC), in partnership with the National Council of Municipal Health Secretariats (CONASEMS) and Municipal Health Secretariats (SEMUS) of the Interstate Health Region of the Middle São Francisco Valley – Pernambuco and Bahia (PEBA), as well as municipalities in the state of Amapá.

Representatives from the municipalities of Senhor do Bonfim, Jaguarari, and Andorinha were present at the meeting, in addition to the students specializing in the course.

Focus on improving the quality of Primary Health Care (PHC)

The training offered by the course had as its main objective the improvement of care provided by Primary Health Care (PHC) for patients with chronic non-communicable diseases. This strategy was aligned with the strategic agenda of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) and sought to provide a more effective and comprehensive care approach.

Professionals from the municipalities of Andorinha and Jaguarari, as well as collaborators from Senhor do Bonfim, were trained throughout the course, aiming to improve the care provided to patients with chronic conditions.
