Cocaine seized on BR-116 in Vitória da Conquista

Cocaine that was to be sold at São João de Senhor do Bonfim was seized on BR-116 in Vitória da Conquista. According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the interception of almost 6 kg of cocaine took place inside a passenger bus, on Tuesday night (20), in front of the PRF post in Vitória da Conquista, Km 830 of BR 116.

During an operation to combat crime, a bus traveling from São Paulo to Senhor do Bonfim was stopped.

Upon boarding the vehicle, the police officers began checking the documentation of both the passengers and the vehicle and drivers.

A detailed inspection was carried out in the luggage compartment and at the back of the bus, specifically in the last seat, where an unmarked box was found. Inside it were found 6 packets of cocaine, corresponding to 5.9 kg of the drug.

One of the drivers told the police that a man had approached him to deliver a package to a relative who lives in the city of Campo Formoso. He added that the box was delivered to the Tietê bus station and he believed it contained clothing. Finally, he stated that he would receive a certain amount of money via PIX (Brazilian instant payment system) once the package was delivered.

The 47-year-old man was arrested for drug trafficking and taken, along with the drugs, to the judicial police for processing. The penalty for this type of crime is up to 15 years in prison.

Throughout the June festivities, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) will be assisted by sniffer dogs, which have become crucial in police operations. The dogs are fundamental tools in combating drug trafficking and arms trafficking.
